“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations.”

This sentence by Mark Twain reminds us of the importance of seeing the old in new ways. We’re not just thinkers, but rather explorers and curators of ideas. As we rotate that kaleidoscope, our curiosity fuels the journey and lets us explore new ways of doing things.

Spark your curiosity:

The best solutions usually come from a place of curiosity. In other moments it might be the need. But even in that case, the way in which you approach the solution might be as creative as your thinking.

Look back:

Usually, the solution is already there, in another form or shape, but it’s the mix of great ideas that makes the best out of yours. Inspiration must not be confused with copycat stuff.

Diverse sources:

Inspiration comes from places you can’t imagine. Being proactive, awake, and focused is what helps you find inspiration everywhere.

Tools and techniques:

When gathering inspiration, and in all creative processes, there are times to judge and channel, and others to just bring as many relatable examples and ideas as possible. Do not slow down your creative process by judging too early, and be conscious about when it’s time to stop and filter.

Creative environment:

Is there any better sensation than having creative freedom? After you understand the briefing and the constraints, having the chance to propose ideas and collaborate with people who want to push the limits forward is just incomparable…
